@Buzard9696 Ed,, …
@Buzard9696 Ed,, use steel wool and WATER, wash the car with a water hose and use steel wool as a scuff pad. Make sure you get it off throughly.. ASAP.. You DO NOT want that stuff to dry on your car and get caked up and crusty.. YOu must get it off and kill it ASAP… it will dry in the cracks and crevuss and you will never get it out and then you will feel the pain when the paint starts to peal off later down the line… Pete

Sorry to say, but …
Sorry to say, but the best thing to do is find where the holes start, and where they end, and cut the intire section out and replace it… More then likely its rusted out from the inside out, and if you go to spot weld the holes they will just get bigger…. Good Luck—Pete

Another great …
Another great informative vid Pete, showing then how its done in the shop
been there a zillion times
for making repair patches i use two inch masking tape to lay over the area, mark out the edges and over lap folds with a marker
the advantage is you can transfer the tape in one peice straight onto your new sheet and cut / mark out from there, just a different way to get a perfect fit

What you should do …
What you should do is either go have it sand blasted or soda blasted.. BUT, this might lead into more trouble, if you do this, you might run into rust pin holes, etc.. the best thing for you to do, is take a grinder with 36 grit and start over by sanding it down and working your way to 180 grit then reprime and paint…..

is it possible to …
is it possible to just buy a new car? ::) just kidding :) I’m trying to get rid of few inches of rust on my car (under the door). I put primer first… and then painted on top of the primer… Paint ate the primer! I have to redo it, but how? Thank You!

If it where me, i …
If it where me, i would either find some good used doors with no rust, before I put door skins on them, If I couldn’t find any used doors then I would skin them. I would do the doors first. then the quarter panels, I would have the front fenders installed, so I would be able to line up the doors properly and make sure the door gaps are right. then I would install the quarters to match the door lines. I presume you are using full quarter panel skins.. Anyway, take your time and it will work. Pete

hey pete im in the …
hey pete im in the process of rebuilding my 74 nova. the rear 1/4′s are rusted out as is the outer wheelhouse on both sides of the car. the front doors arent in the best of shape and will need new skins. they are out of alignment. my question for you is, should i line up the doors and then go to town on the rear 1/4′s? or should i just leave the doors un-aligned and rusted, then worry about it later?

There is NO …
There is NO INTERIOR in the car…. All they did is make the peices, like the center console, speaker box’s, filler panels… Once I get done with the car, then I will take it back to the Interior Shop, and then they will finish it out… Thanks Pete
