Is it possible to repair a motherboard which has succumbed to corrosion?

If the capacitors on the motherboard are corroded (i.e. the top metal bits), is it possible to reverse the damage? I was prompted to look at this because the computer loads up OK but then gets to the OS loading bit and then just stalls. Some times it gets to the Windows Desktop and seems OK for 10 seconds (hardly chance to run any diagnostics) and then it just freezes and I guess this must be because the motherboard is fried?? So I’m wondering if the problem is reversible?
Thanks in advance.

corrosion on volvo penta i/o unit on boat?

how do i repair corrosion problem on volvo penta i/o unit on boat motor. looks like salt corrosion but is not.

Use a stainless steel brush to remove all loose corrosion. Prep with a good solvent such as acetone. Use a zinc chromate primer and then a finish paint suitable for outdrives. You can get factory original paint or aftermarket paint from any good marine supply. Replace the zinc anodes to help prevent further corrosion.

Aquired a used Vivitar flash with battery corrosion. Can I fix this?

The corrosion looked minimal. (I’ve certainly seen and repaired much worse.) I cleaned the connections thoroughly with my Dremmel, but to my surprise, it’s still dead as a door nail. Could there be unseen inner corrosion that I could clean outif I take it all apart? It came with a great vintage Canon and I’m dying to get it up & running. I priced new flashes and forget it. I am broke as a joke. Any thoughts?
