Hi, the bit of wiring wrapped along my bow (just in front of the leather) is made of nickel, which has started to rust lately, first turning blue, then brownish-orange.
Is there any safe way to remove it, preferably by wiping it with something (I’m not too keen in soaking my bow in anything) so that its as good as new, then coat it so it won’t rust again?
Thanks.
use silver cleaning cloth (made for a flute) but you must be very careful not to move the wire or it may loosen and unravel then coat it with clear nail polish … personally I would leave it alone and let it be

I would give it to a professional to do. They would have more idea about a suitable substance to use. I wouldn’t want to risk ruining my bow by doing it myself.
