Gardening is a brilliant hobby! Like owning a pet, it gives a very fulfilling experience especially when you see beautiful blooms or healthy harvests. rust-free and sharp all the time.
Here are a few easy rust removal techniques for the perfect gardening experience.
- Store your tools in the proper places. This will keep unnecessary moisture from your tools and thus, keep them away from rust as well. By proper storage, we mean keeping them off the ground. You can also hang racks for your long-handled tools. For your small tools, use a pegboard system when hanging them.
- Keep your tools clean and dry all the time. This will keep your tools in good condition and in good performance. To clean your rakes, trowels or shovels, wash the dirt off using a strong spray from your hose. If soil has caked on the tools, simply scrub off using a good steel brush.
- To prevent your tools from rusting, always keep your tools dry. Another effective way for rust prevention is by providing protective coating on the surface. There’s a variety of protective coatings in market. Whatever procedure you have in mind, always opt for green cleaning products. Green products have not only been proven effective but also guaranteed to be harmless and safe.
- If your tools are already being eaten by rust, the first thing you need to do is to evaluate the rusting. Are they small rust spots? Is it major? Small rust spots can be treated with a “first aid” rust removal procedure. Simply mix a teaspoon of your favorite detergent with a cup of water. Apply on the spot directly then scrub.
