How can I clean rust stains in a shower?

by admin on August 18, 2010

We cleaned out the shower at my horse barn yesterday because we were just using it for storage. There were a couple of cans of paint on the bottom that left rings of rust on the shower. It is a pop in shower liner, not tile, so is there a product I can use to get rid of the rust?

If you can get your hands on some hydroflouric acid it’ll do the job. Just be very careful with it – it’s really strong and very easy to burn yourself.

CLR is the best for rust stains in the bath tub/shower. That’s what I used and it worked really well. Otherwise, you may want to try 409.

You can try using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. It’s cheap, and it is made for tough marks. It may take some scrubbing, though. Also, do not use it together with any other cleaner stronger than dish soap, as it does have a cleaning agent in it.

CRL is good, but I like Whink Rust Remover too. You can also use it to get rust stains out of cloth, but you have to be careful because it will remove color too.
