You can also use way lubes to protect the paint less parts of your tools from rusts and corrosions. Theses are not very expensive and last long. However, way lubes would make your tools slippery and thus you should avoid using it in small tools.

But the main point is that you must take some extra care to keep those metal products, especially the tools in good shape and working conditions.
