The best tools: And they're right inside your tool box

Knives are simply awesome tools. You can use them in so many ways – doing your craft project or slicing and chopping your food. The sad part; however, is that your favorite tools are made of metal. In time, they can lose their sharpness or worse, begin to rust. Here are a few tips to remember to get best results from your rust removal procedure.

  1. Bear in mind that knife sharpening and rust removal is not at all a difficult task and so you do not have reasons to delay your cleaning procedures. Most knife sets come with its own sharpener upon purchase. You simply need to slice your knife blades against it. When sharpening your blades, start with the base then finish off with the tip. Doing so will give the whole surface of the knife equal sharpness. If you’re lazy enough to sharpen your knife manually, you can resort to knife sharpening machines instead.
  2. When detect rust in your knife, you can execute “first aid” rust removal. Simply grab a fresh onion then chop it using your knife blades. The longer you chop, the better the effects will be. Make sure that you allow the rusty part to get through the onion. This process works in several ways. First, the “chopping” helps rub the rust off the knife blade. Second, the juice coming from the onion helps loosen out the rust. One average size onion is enough to remove all the rust from the knife blade.
  3. If you want a less complicated and more convenient process, simply apply your trusted rust remover on the blade. Using a clean cloth and with the right amount of rust remover on it, wipe the blade thoroughly and slowly until rust spots become invisible.
  4. If you want to sharpen your pocket knives, a whet stone will be a big help. You can get whet stones from camping stores. Just hold your pocket knife at a 45 degree angle then start sliding the blade over the stone like you were scraping tiny particles off the stone. When sharpening the blades, make sure that you hold whet stone safely. Be very careful when doing this process.
  5. After washing, always keep your knife clean and dry. Wipe the blades with clean cloth until shiny and thoroughly dry.

However you want to keep your blades sharp and rust free, always choose the best organic cleaning products . Unlike commercial cleaners, organic cleaners have been proven not only to be safe but also effective.
