Protect Your Metal From Corrosion
Corrosion is the other name of destruction of the material when there is a chemical reaction between material and the atmosphere. During corrosion there are losses of electron from the metal when it reacts with moisture of the atmosphere. This reaction is scientifically known as electrochemical reactions.
Rust is a common form of corrosion. When the metal reacts with moisture and other things of atmosphere then rust forms. Rust treatment is one of the most essential things needed to ensure long life of metal goods. If proper care is not taken rust may cause damage to the metal completely. So we should always try to avoid the metal in coming contact with the moisture.
Since corrosion largely depends on oxidation because of the combination of oxygen with the metal. So noble metals like gold or platinum hardly have corrosion as they can’t oxidize because of their low affinity with oxygen.
But metals like iron easily gets rusted due to high affinity with oxygen.
The electrochemical reactions which lead to various forms of assault will be determined by the environmental, mechanical, geometrical and various other factors
Now once the corrosion starts, it slowly spreads everywhere. So it needs to be prevented. You can use rust products to stop rusting more. Beside this you also need to be careful so that the metals don’t get direct contact to atmosphere. So you need to cover the metal body with good paints. Color the metal body and thus prevent the metal from rust attack.
Large metal structures like ships, cruise, buses often have a have a wax based product coating. This coating contains rust inhibiting chemicals which forms as a barrier. The steels which have a concrete covering get more protection because of high pH environment at the steel-concrete interface. But the main problem is when this metal inside the concrete starts rusting then the whole structure can get fall apart.
